Chery Group's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales exceeded 100,000 units for the fifth consecutive month in August. The company sold 120,909 NEVs, up 69.8 percent year-on-year, keeping its wholesale volume among the industry's top three for five straight months. Cumulative NEV deliveries from January to August reached 725,214 units, up 46.2 percent year-on-year.
Cui Dongshu of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) noted that Chery secured a 5.5 percent global market share in NEVs from January to July 2026, ranking among the world's top five auto groups. The company's rapid NEV growth — from 100,300 units in April to 121,000 units in August — has propelled its rise in the global new energy market.
In August, Chery Group sold 280,128 vehicles in total, up 15.4 percent year-on-year. Exports hit 196,984 units, up 52.1 percent year-on-year, retaining its top position among Chinese auto brands. Notably, Chery's growth is backed by rising new energy penetration. In August, its domestic NEV penetration rate exceeded 60 percent, reaching 61.9 percent — meaning two in every three vehicles Chery sold at home were NEVs. New energy has become the dominant force in Chery's domestic market and a key driver for global expansion. At present, one in seven Chinese NEV exports is from Chery.
The company shipped nearly 70,000 NEVs abroad in August, surging 124.2 percent and accounting for 35.3 percent of its total monthly exports. The new energy share of Chery's European market is even higher. From January to July, Chery sold more than 208,000 vehicles in 24 European countries, up 201 percent year-on-year, including 102,000 NEVs, a surge of 332.5 percent. NEVs account for about 50 percent of its European sales. Chery's NEV products are accelerating their entry into global markets with stringent regulations, where their product competitiveness has won recognition.
Beyond volume growth, Chery's NEV segment has achieved a leap in quality, moving from scale expansion to a new stage of value-oriented growth. In the first half of 2026, Chery's new energy revenue reached 59.284 billion yuan, up 63.8 percent year-on-year, with its share of total revenue rising from 25.6 percent to 41.4 percent.
