The free open-air movie nights at Shenshan Park continue this weekend. Two acclaimed films of contrasting styles, both selected by public vote, will be shown on successive evenings at the Lianxin Stage.
On Friday, September 11, Legend of the Demon Cat will be screened. Set in Chang'an, the Tang dynasty capital, the film follows the poet Bai Letian (Bai Juyi) and the Japanese monk Kukai as they team up to investigate a string of eerie, demon cat-linked deaths, uncovering the long-buried story of Yang Yuhuan, the emperor's beloved concubine. The film is noted for its exquisite visuals and rich atmosphere.
On Saturday, September 12, the inspirational animated film I Am What I Am will be screened. The story follows Liu Jiajuan (Ajuan), a timid village boy, and his friends as they pursue their lion dance dream under the guidance of Xianyu Qiang, a retired lion dance master. Despite hardships and setbacks, the boys never give up, transforming from timid "sick cats" into brave "lions." The film is a moving portrait of perseverance and growth, suitable for audiences of all ages.
Admission is free and no reservation is required. The public are welcome to bring family and friends and arrive early to secure seats.
Please note: As an open-air event, screenings are weather-dependent. In case of rain, strong winds or other severe weather, the event may be adjusted, postponed or canceled. Please watch for on-site notices and plan your visit accordingly.
